Job Overview

We are in search of a meticulous and dedicated Accounting Staff member who is passionate about enhancing the financial operations of nonprofit organizations. This fully remote position offers you the opportunity to work within a collaborative and supportive team, reporting directly to the Director of Finance & HR. You will be integral to maintaining streamlined financial processes while also providing assistance with various HR functions.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage vendor maintenance, process W9 forms, and ensure timely and precise accounts payable processing.
  • Facilitate the accurate crediting of scholarship payments to student accounts, communicating with educational institutions to resolve any discrepancies.

 

  • Oversee invoicing, monitor past-due accounts, and manage collections to guarantee prompt payment receivables.
  • Process incoming payments into the accounting system (Intacct), ensuring the integrity of financial data.
  • Issue donor tax acknowledgment letters while ensuring adherence to tax regulations.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements to uphold accurate financial records.

 

  • Process staff expense reports, manage reimbursements, and maintain credit card receipt files.
  • Supervise the control and distribution of in-kind donations and inventory.
  • Assist with additional tasks as directed by the Director of Finance & HR or CEO to promote the efficiency of financial and HR operations.

Required Skills

 

  • Strong understanding of accounting software, particularly Intacct, is preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities, ensuring professional interactions with both team members and external partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (G-Suite).

 

  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks.
  • Strong bookkeeping and financial management aptitude.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.

 

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Qualifications

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
